By following these easy steps, you can preserve and protect the flavour and quality of your e-liquid.
Storing e-liquids properly isn’t rocket science – but although experienced vapers may know the ropes, it’s always worth learning the basics if you’re new to vaping. Using these helpful tips will ensure that your e-liquids last for longer.
Top tips for storing e-liquid
We use natural ingredients of the highest quality in all our e-liquids here at VaporFi – but like all consumable items, this does mean that there is a best before date. Making sure you handle and store your e-liquids properly will help preserve their taste and ensure that they don’t go off prematurely. Indeed, using the right techniques can help your e-liquids remain in a perfect condition for up to two years.
Avoid light and heat
When you’re storing spare bottles of e-liquid, the key thing to remember is that they need to be kept somewhere which is dark and cool. It’s likely that your e-liquids will contain nicotine, and this is extremely sensitive to heat and light. Prolonged exposure to these elements will see your blend lose its flavour and freshness a lot faster. You can slow bacteria growth and delay naturally occurring chemical changes in e-liquid by keeping them in low temperatures.
Although some vapers put their e-liquids in the fridge or freezer for later use, this isn’t something we’d recommend – and this is because it can ruin the consistency and taste of your chosen blends. You’ll want to aim for room temperature of 18C to 22C, or somewhere a degree or two cooler than this. If you do end up putting your e-liquids in the fridge, always allow it to warm up to room temperature again before you start vaping.
Garages are usually cooler and darker than other rooms in the house – and they’re going to be out of sight of children and pets – making them a desirable place to keep your e-liquid. Cupboards and cabinets also come recommended, especially if they are high up and can be locked away.
Now we know where is best to store e-liquid, let’s have a think about which containers are best to use. Unfortunately, the bottles that the majority of e-liquids are provided in are not designed for long-term storage. This means that vapers who bulk buy their supplies should consider decanting them into airtight, tinted glass bottles if they are going to be keeping it for longer than a month. These small bottles are easy to find and relatively inexpensive, and you’ll get a healthy return on your investment.
To steep or not to steep?
There’s a lively debate online about whether “steeping” works. This is a technique that involves soaking e-liquids in hot water – and fans believe that it can make nicotine more potent and increase the intensity of an e-liquid’s flavours.
Although there’s no doubt that some vapers have enjoyed success with this method, we don’t recommend giving it a try with our products. That’s because we strive to ensure that all of our flavours are mixed to perfection as soon as they’re sent to you.
